How to combine several patches into one floating patch?
Hi,
I use Max to control my Modular synth from Ableton.
I built a giant patch including several "Multimappers" to access many necessary parameters (oscs, filters, amps, and so on)
Works great - however I need to open those controls one by one as they all sit in different areas.
I'd like to combine all of them into one giant GUI - that can stay open on a second screen and
always give me easy and convenient access to all parameters.
Pics attached.
Old: Current situation
New: Ideal solution.
I have no experience programming MAX. Is there an easy way - a plugin - a solution?
Thanks a lot!!
Tobi
I don't use Ableton, so I don't know if there are any restrictions on size of GUI.
But to the Max part - there a bpatchers which can be placed anywhere
on the main patch and include subpatchers.
That's probably what You need.
I don't know how You did the actual ones, maybe with simple subpatches ,
which You open by doubleclick, or open message ?
You can save each of them as individual patches and load them into bpatchers.

I did not build anything in Max so far, I just opened several instances of this device (http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/1813/multimapper16) among others and chained them on a track in Ableton.
As I'm very inexperienced with MAX I don't really understand the rest of your reply (about the 'bpatcher')
cheers

I see.
Now probably what I am going to tell You would not help You further,
because of all this terms and names we use in Max , but this is it:
One could make new device and place several copies of the patch
inside, but many objects in this device are not hardwired, but are using send / receive objects
to comunicate with each other.
That is ok if loaded as individual devices in Live, but in one and the same max patch,
which one than turns into amxd, one would have to manually rename all of them to get individual adresses.
That would be a lot of work, and also storage of Parameters would have to be reorganised.
And before attempting to do so, one would have to ask the creator of the original Device for
permission, I guess.
there is no "easy way" outside of programming that yourself in Max or Max4Live - but maybe it is about time to download the demo and see yourself?
p.s. is there no "window set" function in live yet?
