How to send only midi (without instrument) to max for live device
Hi everyone, I have a question regarding midi routing with a max for live device. I have this device that consists of 4 audio sources (that are sounds in selected folders) that are mixed in a nodes object. Now I have implemented the possibility of having as source an instrument track in Ableton live instead of the folder. But I also want (when I use the folders) to control the midi of the 4 different sources with 4 different midi tracks, and this seems to be not possible when the midi track doesn't contain an instrument. How can I do that?
"to control the midi of the 4 different sources with 4 different midi tracks" ?
what midi control should that be ? for what sources ?
you mean your device has 4 audio channels that either play 4 sound files,
or receive 4 audio channels from that instrument ?
m4l device knows only 3 types: audio, midi, instrument.
Only midi and instrument devices can receive midi messages
through Live midi routings. (beside mapped midi control of parameters)
for anything else, you must use send - receive stuff.
I made a test device, it seems you can put a [midiin] inside a Max Audio Effect and this becomes visible from your midi tracks, so then you can route the midi there. (See picture).
I'm not sure if this is what you want, though
