I can't authorize MAXMSP

Megan Hung's icon

Hi, I really need help. I bought MAXMSP few days ago and tried to authorize it. However, when i click the authorize button, the screen appears blank. I've tried to reinstall several times, and still get the problem.
Any solution? Thanks

Hi! I’ve sent mail to cycling support several times, they replied the solution last week. Since none of the way they said can be solved, they started to going in circle…..

if you expect to get better help from forum then from cycling support team ????
at least post more details and what you allready tried.

It could be as simple as internet connection, privileges etc

did you try to open package manager ?
I see you are on mac, run executable in Max.app/Contents/MacOS directly,
maybe terminal will post some infos

This is the infos it shows.

it seems that max starts to rebuild database and probably either fails or needs long time to do so.
I remember that being reported here in the forum,
where Max app would not seem to start up at all.
Did you get package manager to open and connect to remote packages?

that paceap.eden bla bla errors are irrelevant, you seem not to try to authorise using ilok dongle, or ?

Oh, and any solution for this in that forum?
Well, I cannot connect to package manager. I've tried to open it, but it shows blank screen.
Yes, I didn't authorize from ilok, though I've downloaded it(But it shows unavailable message). Is it necessary to authorize by ilok?

Source Audio's icon

your problem seems to be internet connection.
because also package manager is blocked.

no, ilok is not needed, I asked just to be sure you use no ilok.
If you installed ilok and don't use any ilok protected software, uninstall it.

you need to check that max has internet connection.
Otherwise you will not be able to authorise it.

Megan Hung's icon

No, my Internet connection is fine. I can surf the net successfully.

Or any other possibility is that I add Ad-block?

Source Audio's icon

your internet connection might be fine, but is it fine also for Max ?
Maybe you blocked it somewhow.
you can try to open jweb in max and try to fetch some url ....

Megan Hung's icon

Hi! What do you mean "open jweb in max"? Is it an url inside Max? I don't know this stuff LOL

Source Audio's icon

open jweb help file
it is web browser in mac

Roman Thilenius's icon

i think he might that version where there was a problem with macos webkit.

Megan Hung's icon

Hi! I still can't find jweb. Can you tell me in more detail, thanks!

Megan Hung's icon

Do you mean the OS version? I am currently in 11.1 version and MAX 8

Source Audio's icon

..........

Megan Hung's icon

Thanks so much. idk it's an object.
Okay, i found some strange thing. It shows

The middle block is blank

Source Audio's icon

you did click on cycling url ?

Megan Hung's icon

yes, and it can’t work(show nothing). Sorry for the late response

Megan Hung's icon

Hi all!!! Thanks for your response.
I finally solved it after I upgrade my mac to version 12.
Whoooooooh

Augustine Bannatyne - Leudar's icon

Ok and for those of us whos mac cannot be upgraded to version 12 ?

Source Audio's icon

Why should you upgrade ?

Even with old high sierra 10.13 / max 8.0.0 - 8.6.4

one can connect to internet using jweb, package manager

and authorization server.

Roman Thilenius's icon

10.13 runs 4.x and 8.x side by side, it is so wonderful.

Source Audio's icon

I run also max 3.5 & 3.6 in emulation

Florian Demmer's icon

@Augustine - please get in touch with our support as it sounds like there are potentially some things at play that prevent the Authorization Window to load correctly.
