Including a pdf in M4L plugin

Hi, how to include a pdf file in a M4L plugin to open it later with command ";
max launchbrowser $1" ? Thx.

max launchbrowser file ... with path to pdf would open default pdf reader
and tell it to open that pdf file.
Is that what you want ?
I don't use Live, but in Max one would place pdf file next to patcher
and use it's absolute path to form path to pdf file.

Maybe some Live user could suggest something different ...

Yep I know how to do it in Max, but not in M4L. If I include the pdf file in the plugin [absolutepath] don't find it...

what do you mean by "include" ?
place that pdf file next to device and it will find it

yep, obviously it could work like that but I would avoid to add pdf files in the plugin folders.
including file is to freeze the plugin with everything it needs like a collective.

is live "unfreezing" the plugins on runtime ?
I guess not.
It is probably compressed file, same as mxf embedded files.
you can't expect that pdf reader can see the pdf file in that
freezed file...

Why don't you open that info in pdf file in device itself,
like picture?
I guess it is user manual for device, or ?

But as I said, I am not Live user, so maybe
there is some simpler solution.
Like default location for Live's documents, treated similar to max search paths ?

Yep it definitely makes sense thx. Yep it is for manuals. I will check it.

Hi, SOURCE AUDIO is right. You can freeze any file into a device but you can't access them with extern software. Also the files will have no absolute path. So any object in your device can access the frozen files with a relative path. If pdf is your only option, I would distribute that with the device as a separate file.

Yep. That's right. Thk you to both of you.
