Internal Mic not working with adc~ in newest version of Max
Hello everyone,
My internal mic has recently stopped working with Max through the adc~ object and I can't seem to figure out why. In my audio status window all of my drivers (core audio) and ins and outs seems to be perfectly in line. I've been messing around for days trying to figure out what's wrong and I'm stumped.
I should say that my built in mic stopped working while I was downloading some externals; the ones that are featured in MAX and also a 64 bit version of sigmund~. Other microphones don't seem to pick up anything either, when hooked up. Built in output works fine.
I've deleted the externals now. I've also reinstalled the newest version of Max 8 numerous times. I've also tried deleting Max 8 and installing the last version of Max 7 instead and had no luck with that either.
If anyone has any ideas as to what I'm missing, please help me out.
Did you trash your preferences?
Sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean. My system preferences for my laptop are all good and my mic works with all other pieces of software.
Do you think I'm missing something in Max's preferences?
hey! I just had this exact same problem for a bit before i found something that worked for me, in case you havent found a solution yet!
i went to the top bar > Options > Audio Status... and it should open something that'll let you pick where your input is coming from (when I opened it mine said 'none')
Hey! I'm actually having the same problem, and its not an audio status thing. Inputs work in other DAWs on my computer, and Max is definitely able to buffer audio files and output those, but for some reason, even if my audio settings are set to the right input, they just not being picked up in any patch. Any thoughts?
Solved! If you are using Mac, go to System Preferences> Security & Privacy> choose Privacy button on the upper right hand side. Scroll down the list and pick Microphone. On the window you'll have some application and Max as well. Mark it , restart Max.

OMG...I spent all day tracking this down. My MOTU wasn't passing audio from the inputs at all until I checked this preference!
