I have an issue with jit.gl.bfg. When I open the help file and interact with the parameters nothing happens in the world. I friend gave me another help file and its still not working. Also when I interact with palette and fractal params I get a yellow message in Max window saying "....unused in current shader state."

If anyone has any ideas of how to help it would be much appreciated.

Ok, I fixed it by giving the world a name and all of the objects that I want drawn to the name of the world. By that I mean "jit.world world_name" "jit.gl.bfg world_name" jit.gl.texture world_world."

Is anyone able to tell me what caused this to happen whereby I need to tell everything where it should be drawing to whereas before it would just draw to the nameless world automatically.

Hey it sounds like you are using an attribute that is not available with the specific "basis" attribute you are using. So if your gl.bfg basis is 'noise.perlin' there is no attribute 'fractal_params' so trying to use that will send you the error "....unused in current shader state." Whereas if you switch the basis to 'fractal.fbm' you will be able to alter the 'fractal_params' attribute.

Dante's right - the parameters available to modify on the fly is utterly dependent on the basis function you use.

for your responses however, this is not the issue. It is also worth mentioning that I now know the issue is not exclusive to jit.gl.bfg. Since writing this question I have come to understand that the issue is happening with all gl objects that use the jit.world in that they do not draw to the world unless the world has a name and the gl object has a specified drawing destination. So, many of the help files do not work unless I give the jit.world a name and then a drawing destination to all the gl objects. 

I have also noticed that in Max for Live when I have done some editing, I save my patch, go back into Live to find that the objects will not draw to the world unless I reopen the Live project. This breaks up the workflow quite considerably and it is my theory that this drawing issue is the cause for occasionally crashes in Live which involve Live just closing in the blink of an eye (when using a Mac).
