jit.movie~ read file no audio

    Dec 13 2016 | 6:30 am
    If I feed the jit.movie~ object a read message with a specified filename, the movie loads and the audio plays, as expected.
    But if I give it a read message without a filename (triggering a dialog), then the movie loads without any audio.
    MacBook Pro 2012, MacOS 10.12.1.
    Example patch:

      Weirder and weirder.
      I thought a workaround might be to use an opendialog object so that the read message has a specified filename before it reaches the jit.movie~, but it doesn't work. So it's not just the presence or absence of a filename; specifying the path breaks it too.
      Example:

      Just tried the patch on Windows 10, and there it works as expected, so this seems to be a Mac-only bug.

      hi pseudostereo, i can't reproduce this. it's possibly a problem with the specific movie file you are reading?

      Hi Rob, no, I tried it with both my own media & with some of the built-in example movie files that have soundtracks (crashtest.mov and blading.mov). I'll investigate further & see if I can narrow it down.

      Hi,
      I am having the exact same problem. Also tried to read "crash test.mov" with read command and it is silent. Even in the help file jit.movie~ it does not work. macOS Sierra (makes a lot of other problems too) X.12.2 { "version" : "Version 7.3.1 (340a77a) (32-bit mac)", "platform" : "mac", "arch" : "x86", "osversion" : "Mac OS X Version 10.12.2 x86_64", "samplerate" : 44100, "iovs" : 2048, "sigvs" : 2048, "scheduler_in_audio_interrupt" : "on", "audio_drivername" : "Core Audio", "audio_driver_subname" : "", "license" : "permanent full", "machine_id" : "53024cf6ab76fc1d844ea62a5d9d9e05", "eventinterval" : 2, "overdrive" : "off", "mixerparallel" : "off", "mixercrossfade" : 0, "mixerlatency" : 30.0, "mixerramptime" : 10.0, "videoengine" : "avf", "packages" : { "Max" : { "name" : "Max", "domain" : 1, "domains" : 1 } , "MSP" : { "name" : "MSP", "domain" : 1, "domains" : 1 } , "Jitter" : { "name" : "Jitter", "domain" : 1, "domains" : 1 } , "Max for Live" : { "name" : "Max for Live", "domain" : 1, "domains" : 1 } , "Gen" : { "name" : "Gen", "domain" : 1, "domains" : 1 } , "BEAP" : { "author" : "Matthew Davidson, Peter McCulloch", "description" : "BEAP (Berklee Electro Acoustic Pedagogy) Modular is a synthesis pedagogical tool.", "displayname" : "", "extends" : "", "extensible" : 1, "homepatcher" : "", "max_version_max" : "none", "max_version_min" : "6.1.10", "name" : "BEAP", "os" : { "macintosh" : { "platform" : [ "ia32", "x64" ], "min_version" : "none" } , "windows" : { "platform" : [ "ia32", "x64" ], "min_version" : "none" }
