Kontakt multiout in Max

Hey,

We are currently working on a university project using Kontakt in Max MSP and have encountered some difficulties. We’d like to have 4 different VST Instruments loaded up in one instance of Kontakt, each sending their output to an individual stereo output. If we set up an 8-output Object in Max with the VSTs loaded and set up Aux Channels in Kontakt, we’re not able to route the Aux Outputs to the Objects Outputs. Is there a way to do so? The „workaround“ would be to use 4 Instances - sure , but since we want to keep the resources at a minimum we wanted to take a shot here first. Thanks in advance!

No need for multiple instances. Sending each instrument in a Kontakt multi to a separate pair of outputs from the vst~ object is indeed possible, though I'm not sure about routing Kontakt's aux channels out of vst~ as I've never needed to do it.

You'll need to initialize vst~ with eight outputs, add all the instruments or banks or whatever to your multi, then open the output pane of Kontakt, select "Presets/Batch Configuration"> "Batch functions" > "Clear output section and create one individual channel for each loaded instrument". That should basically get you there.

hi,

Just route each instrument by the "output" menu. See the picture.
