M4L device not turning ON with automation
Hellou! while working on my last performance i faced many times the problem that certain M4L devices would not turn ON unless i was "watching" them, they could not follow the automation and somehow kept being OFF. This is not happening with all M4L devices, but with some. One of them is the MAP8, i made some test and i found out that the problem occurs when focussing on the track, while the device os OFF and then focussing somewhere else. I made a video to be more clear (sorry for the bad spelling of the captions i did them on a small iphone):
ah sorry i forgot: mac retina 15" late 2013, Latest live 10 with MAX 8
Bump! This is a fundamental bug that confused me and took many hours to figure out and work around. Would love to see someone from Cycling pick this up.
Bump!!! Wrote month ago also to ableton people but nothing changed, I am discovering more and more ”un -switchable” m4l devices, having to keep all these devices always ON during performances is quite risky CPU wise...
Another +1 bump for this bug.
I have several plugs from the m4l packs in my live show set - I don't want to have them switched on all the time, but the plug automation fails unless the track is in focus as shown above.
If anyone knows of a fix or a workaround, please share!
(Using most recent Live 9 / Max For Live on W7 PC, for reference)
I think one fix that worked was to have all the plugins automations on ON at the beginning of the track and always save the live set with the playback bar at beginning (yes really difficult to keep in mind and if you fail you can f**k up a performance). If the plugs are saved as ON they will be able to switch ON, but this is s workaround i used in May for one performance, after that i changed the hole set to avoid the problem... so i am not sure it still work
