M4L MIDI recorder possible?
Hi folks,
There is a limitation in Ableton where I'm using a midi controller to trigger samples. My Track MIDI input is set to IN. I am playing live and working in the session view but I am also recording the session in to arrangement view for later editing. I want to be able to record that MIDI input on that midi controller, but the only way to get it in to arrangement view is to have that track record enabled in session view. That doesn't work because I'm bouncing all around the project and recording in to other tracks, etc.
So I was thinking maybe there would be a way in M4L to create a MIDI recorder where when I start my arrangement recording at the beginning of the set it would start recording the MIDI on that channel. THen later I could just drag that as a MIDI file in tot eh arrangement view for later processing.
Is this possible? Is it possible to record MIDI in Max? I do have the full version of Max 8 if that is helpful. This is also coming from a Network MIDI device, so I'm open to some other external program outside of Ableton recording the MIDI input and then later dropping it in as long as it's not too big of a performance hit.
OK. It looks like this is very possible. I got a little recorded working just fine. I just need to learn how to navigate the LOM with M4L and I will link my record and write actions to the arrangement record button. Sweet!
