m4l: playback a file via max but no sound coming out of ableton

hello.

i've got a little problem in max for live that i can't work out myself. i've programmed a m4l midi effect that should playback a file once i hit a certain key on my computer keyboard (see a simplified version of the patch attached). now, i don't hear anything when i want to make it play in ableton. i can see it's actually playing when i hit the key but there's no sound coming out. it's probably just a tiny setup problem in ableton but could anyone please tell me what i'm doing wrong? thank you.
