Max 8 won't open after updating Mac OS

Hi,

Just updated to Sequoia 15.6.1 yesterday and now Max won't open. Have tried uninstalling, deleting the files in Application Support, and installing again with no luck. It's strange as it opens on a separate user on my Mac but not my main one. Have also deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.cycling74.Max.plist, and still not working.

Any help?

try to run Max by doubleclicking on executable within package contents.

That could give you some infos about what trouble you got there

in terminal.

Cheers, yeah I've tried that and nothing happens, the app fails to open and nothing appears in terminal.

well that must again be apple bullshit with privileges and such.

in any case if you open terminal and type sudo open (add space after word open)

and drag your max.app , hit enter and password.

That should open Max app.

if you want to run executable do the same

but drag it instead of app.

Woah. That worked. Thanks!

Same problem here, but since Max 8 fails to open, Ableton freeze and get stucked at "starting max" forever. Tried as GHOST FROM THE PAST said but max still' won't open.

If you can open Max using sudo it points to a file permission problem. Were both, Max and Live installed using the same macOS user? Are they installed globally (for all users) or locally (for one user only)?

If reinstalling both using the same scope doesn’t solve it, best to contact support directly.
