Max and ProTools
I have recently upgraded to ProTools 11 and unluckily I noticed that Max 6 has disappeared from the list of plug-in available instrument, otherwise than ProTools 10. I also wrote to ProTools for explanations but they answered "Max doesn't function in ProTools" (genial answer indeed !!!). Could you tell me if in the future Max will function again with ProTools (DigiRewire is still present in it). And in the meanwhile can I use Max with ProTools throught hardware (I use a Fireface UCX multichannel interface)wiring for instance: ProTools MidiOut --> to MidiIn Max--> Audio-->AudioIn ProTools; Shall I not insert in this way an excessive delay ? Thanks niky
Max is an application, not a plugin.
So when you say "Max 6 has disappeared from the list of plug-in available instrument," that makes no sense.
@stringtapper Max is not a plug-in but it normally appears in the plug-in list as a
instrument that can communicate to Protools via the Rewire protocol. Well, at least in Protools 8.05 it still appears, I don't no for PT 11, sorry
Perhaps try reinstalling ReWire?
yes, but how I can ? I have not the Reason Software; where could I found a recent release of ReWire? Thank niky
Thanks for the information but there is the 1.7 release. Searching in the net it looks like to me to have understood that the releases of ReWire after 1.7 (and so also the 2.0 that I am searching) are no more an indidual program but are portions of whole program; and so it's impossible to find and install ReWire alone. A similar problem exsist also if one try to run, for instance, Melodyne as instrument in ProTools 11. And so I am afraid that there is only to wait that programmers fix the problem. Anyway thanks niky
I have noticed that if I try to activate the ad_rewire drivers in options --> audio status menù (always hoping that max will appear as insert plug-in in Pro Tools 11) this message appears in Max Window:
ReWire system not installed
ad_rewire: please check ReWire installation and restart Max/MSP
How can I reinstall ReWire?
Thanks niky
I am not a friend of rewire.. what about internal virtual midi connection via midi yoke or loopmidi and audio via jack/soundflower?
Really a good idea, thanks; and soundflower is available also for windows 8?
If you search the forum you'll see that this has come up a few times - see Andrew Pask's reply in this thread: https://cycling74.com/forums/rewire-problems/
Afaik, v.1.7 is the most up to date driver - they haven't updated it for years, but it still works for me with PT 9 - just keep a copy handy to re-install next time it barfs ;-)
Cheers
Roger
WOYTEG, I followed your suggestion and I am trying to work with Jack (I use Windows 8); usually I work with Pro Tools 11, Finale and Max 6.1. When, after running Jack, I open the Patchbay connection kit, I see as scheduled clients only Finale and system, neither ProTools nor Max, and if I choose "system" as client for theese two programs it doesn't function. What can I do? Thanks niky
Hi,
I'm working with Pro Tools 10, and I use Reason and Melodyne as rewire virtual device; really only Max is not present into the available instruments list. Maybe is a Max problem.
