Max Standalone

Hi, for what purpose is the max standalone an interesting offer if you own max for live? I don't understand the 20% discount when I can use the max for live. I suppose it is to use a standalone programmed max file as a vst programming tool for other DAWs (e.g. logic or cubase)? Maybe a very simple question but I currently have no idea. Thank you very much. Kind regards, boris

Thanks for your post, Boris. For some people, Max for Live does fit their needs. There is a comparison chart here, if you want to explore building patches and applications outside of a Max for Live device:

If you describe specific needs or have projects in mind, perhaps others could provide some advice, too.

As lilli said . You cant build standalones or collectives with m4l . Is also tricky when working with several ch´s of midi inputs and outputs without virtual ports and other workarounds. Jitter is somehow limited in quality , before max 8 you couldnt do multichanel audio outputs in m4l with m7 but in max 8 ableton 10 is possible.
And the list goes.
I just rented Max 7 license for a month because of a job Im doing , and meanwhile I can play for a month with those limited in m4l otherwise functions like editing gen~patchers , exporting to vst or c++ etc
