Max Standalone Audio Out/In to other DAWs

I have successfully made several Max stand-alones and recently compiled one for the mac OS as an App. All works fine, but are the objects or methods in Max to create virtual audio output channels that other DAWs (including Ableton Live, I have this and can use to test), so they can accept the audio output from Max. Similar question for the audio inputs.

So far, I can only see audio I/O routing to/from Max for physical devices, like the hardware digital interface, but no virtual audio channels.

Sure there is the physical connection, take your digital interfaces (hardware) output cables and plug them into it's audio inputs, but this is not really a solution, since most people, including myself, do not have enough ports to separate native DAW's generated audio from the Max standalone's audio stream. Perhaps this is the reality, that a multi port DI is needed.

Or is it time for me to install Soundflower, as my last installation of Soundflower failed when I upgraded to the 64 bit mac OS?

Some have said, export your gen~ patch as C++ so a vst can be created, would not really be looking forward to this, which means porting the code over to say xCode. So in the near future not a solution for me.

Thanks in advance.

there are quite few free and payed virtual audio routers out there.

blackhole for example

Blackhole works very well. I have used it as part of an aggregate device on various Macs with no issues

Thanks SourceAudio and DHJDHJDHJ. Just re-installed SoundFlower and it's working, yet to give the BlackHole a go and see how it stacks up against SoundFlower. But yes this is what I was after.

Much appreciated.

Been trying SoundFlower and it works for a couple of minutes, then starts to crackle and then the sound volume reduces to zero altogether. Then sit back do nothing ... wait .... and it comes back again. Not good. Google searches reveal similar findings for some older posts.
