Max4L vs Rnbo vst
Hey there so super new to this and I have a few questions.
I use ableton and I was wondering on the cpu /ram efficiency between
A max for live device
And the same patch made in Max standalone with RNBO and exported as a VST3 to be used in ableton ?
Does any one have any experience on which would perform better cpu and memory usage wise ? The M4L looks a bit nicer with the knobs but if the performance difference is big it may not be worth it.
Thanks in advance !
In general a compiled code like in a vat should run more efficiently. If you want to maintain easy and nice looking interface options, there’s a third way. You can create your patch in RNBO export it as an external and create a M4L device that only contains the UI objects to control the custom external.
That does seem like a valid option other than the cost of both lol, I'm torn between the two M4L vs RNBO and standalone . I looked at the JUCE template for making an interface for RNBO Vsts but didn't really parse it too well, id have to try and understand how that works more.
I'm guessing the max4L devices couldn't run too too inefficiently or no one would use them.
Theres also the other thing I could just get over the appearance of the RNBO Vsts and use them lol if they sound good the looks shouldn't matter they are only for my use anyway.
