Max/MSP for average music junkies
My name is Mike Sheffield and I am an associate editor at Hopes&Fears.
We recently published an article called "Max/MSP for average music junkies" wherein we interview Max's creator Miller Puckette, Wounded Knees flautist Suzanne Thorpe, and ambient musician Tim Hecker.
The article talks about the divide between programmers and artists who gravitate towards the interface for its expressive qualities rather than it's technical innovation.
Interesting, and look forward to reading. However, it's my view that what Max/MSP needs now is to expand its reach beyond music to all the other forms in which it has potency for expression - video, image and text (the word) are but 3 of those areas... :)
That's a bit like saying a hammer needs to get better at making furniture.
@Mike - It seems a few people on C74's Facebook page doubt that the Gantz Graf video used Jitter at all.
Cool article though :)
they've actually corrected that now!!
but very good article, operates as an excellent history and introduction to Max. will be great for students, or new users, to read through.
