I'm seriously nowhere with this. I'm trying to connect my Ipod touch with my max patch. Don't have the first clue about this and I can't seem to find any resources for information that help me.

I've downloaded patches where I should be able to select ports and addresses, which I have done... does nothing when typed in correctly.

There are a few guides that show how to connect ipod with TouchOSC editor, this doesn't work for me. I follow the exact instructions but get completely nothing. It doesn't sync.

Are you trying to use MIDI or OSC messages to communicate? With MIDI, you need to use the MIDI Bridge available from Hexler's webpage. Have you installed it? Otherwise, with OSC and wi-fi, you need to check that both devices are on the same network, use the udpsend or udpreceive objects and set the correct IP addresses and port numbers.
