Mira Windows Beta for download

    Aug 01 2013 | 12:19 pm
    Hi all,
I'm very happy to announce a beta version of the Mira package for Windows. Inside you'll find the same projects and examples as the Mac package, along with mira.frame, mira.multitouch and mira.motion objects for Windows. Instructions for installation should be inside the package. I'm pretty sure they're named something conspicuous, like how_to_install.txt.
If you encounter any problems, please post them to this list. I'll of course do my best to sort them out as fast as I can.
Also, I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who's been working with Mira since its launch over a month ago. Every morning since then I've been waking up to see people posting cool projects and making music. If they weren't made of reinforced tungsten, the cockles of my heart would long since have melted. So thanks for using Mira, and for your patience as I try to make it the best app it can be.
Without further ado, the download link for the Windows beta: http://filepivot.com/projects/mira/files/package_latest_win

you should repost sale for ipad app. alot of us windows user would have bought mira app at sale price.

Or have a beta (free) version of the iPad app since it's shitty to expect windows users to pay full price for a beta implementation.

@wurlt01 David mentioned already in the thread for the last sale that we would be providing a one day sale for Mira again when the windows version comes out of beta. It shouldn't be too long now. If you want to save a few dollars on Mira, you should wait until this happens.
@rodrigo We are releasing this beta to the public because of a few reasons:
      1. Several Windows users purchased Mira when we made the mistake of not having Windows support clearly noted as missing on the App Store, and some even mentioned purchasing Mira during the previous sale.
      2. Many of our Macintosh users are also Windows users, and they can compare and contrast behaviors/bugs with the Macintosh version to help accelerate the release version being ready for all.
Please understand that we are not releasing it in order to play Tom Sawyer, and due to the structure of being tied into Apple's store and policy that we have significantly less flexibility than we do with releasing software on our own.
As with all new software, there are pains for early adopters (whether beta or release), and we apologize for such inconveniences. Thank you for your feedback and patience as we continue to improve Mira and Max.

Another point to mention for Windows users is that Windows doesn't have Bonjour installed by default (what Mira uses to automatically connect with Max). Here is some info on installing:
On Windows Mira requires Bonjour for Windows to be installed. Bonjour is a network discovery service that helps Mira find Max so you don't have to configure IP addresses. Bonjour for Windows is automatically installed with iTunes which you might already have. Don't worry though, if you don't want to install iTunes just download and install Bonjour from here:

I think sale price should be know I'm willing to be part of beta at 35 dollars would have even bought when on sale if I knew beta was 2 weeks away. It seemed as us windows users were gonna have to wait a long time. I almost bought that first day it was released.

hi all, finally i got the time to test Mira for win. Everything seems to work fine! What i miss : 1. Waveform view 2. Umenu 3. Readout values for all the controls ( range slider, multi slider ) 4. Input for precise numeric values, and possibily for editing messages ( would be great at a double tap to show up the iOS keyboard to input numeric and alphanumeric values.
      great work sam! a.

I have a maxforlive patch that uses Live.Text as a button to send a random midi program change between a specific range of numbers. The button works fine from within MS windows, but from Mira the button looks like it activates (and is mimic'd on windows) but the message isn't sent. patcher is here http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/1258/strymon-timeline-control-device
Also, really need support for live.menu, live.arrows, and bpatcher display for this to be really useful to me.

Whoa! I was not holding my breath on this. In fact I was logging on to post a question about getting UDP networking to work. :)
Dare I ask for a WinRT version to run on my Surface? (What? I can't be the only one.)

      Oh, spoke too soon.
      [Max Package Installer]
"There are no packages available to install.
Install Failed! Please see log file for details."
Erm, where would said log file be? This is on Windows 8.1 by the way, in case that matters.
