Multi channel Panning along a line of speakers (Single axis)
Hi there
I'm trying to create a patch which will allow me to move a mono source along a long corridor by panning from speaker to speaker along a (single axis) line of (probably 8) speakers. Any bright ideas of how I could do this?
I hope to then apply signal controllers to this panner to control the location of the sound generatively.
It would be an extra bonus if I was able to pan the sound in two dimensions, with another line of speakers on the other side of the corridor
Thanks for your help!
Well for this you could start with dac~ 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 , and a soudcard with that much outputs , then from there is all depending on your needs . There is many examples in the forum and even some dedicated libraries for this , like the http://www.mshparisnord.fr/hoalibrary/en/ and more in the package manager.
I did this always with m4l and Ableton Live so maybe other people from the forum can point you to the right abstractions
Ah thanks, sounds a bit basic but I actually wasn't aware of the package manager till now, I've simply been searching the forums. So far I've been trying to work out how I would modify the pan2 object to pan along a line.
You probably want to try the send node way . You can make an interface with the node object and assign the amount of volume you send to that output . So you can move it in real time , or automate it at signal rate or even simpler .
This one is a good example
