Multichannel output patch

Hi there,

I'm wondering what the easiest way is to create a patch for a 4 speaker output?

It's for an installation that has 4 speakers in each corner of the room.

The idea is to record an input from a microphone and have it play back on each speaker with a time delay. So for example a word is spoken through the microphone and then it plays back four times once through each speaker.

Working out the time delay will be straight forward I'd imagine but it's just setting up the channel split in the patch in the most convenient way for this purpose.

Thanks

Finn,
Did you figure this out? If not, this might do what you want.

Consider recording your mic input into a delay line [tapin~]. Then play it back with [tapout~] different delay times, routing each playback to a different speaker, [dac~ 1], [dac~ 2], etc.

Here's a patch to give you the idea.

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

You may want to read/work through the "MSP Delay Tutorial 1: Delay Lines." That should help firm up your understanding.

Hope this helps.
