My very first patch: absolutely nothing happening
This (the screenshot below) is my very first patch. I just want to play a sound file through my speakers, but nothing plays when I click the play button on the sound file object. I've also put in an oscilloscope, but that shows no sign of life either. What am I missing?
The sound file is a very ordinary 16-bit mono WAV, about 1 or 2 seconds long. It plays fine from Finder.
The output device (Scarlett 2i2) is also working fine and I am able to play stuff from other applications through it.
I also plugged in a noise generator, but that doesn't come through either.
I have tried an alternative output device (the speakers in my monitor), but that makes no difference. Absolutely nothing happens, no matter what I do. Why is this?
EDIT: I should probably add that, yes, I do make sure that the patch is locked before I try to run it.
EDIT 2: When Audio is enabled, the sound level meter is permanently how you see it in the screenshot, rather than at zero, where I assume it should be.

Hello,
Turn off your laptop, disconnect everything so you're just left with your laptop only and see what happens when you select the Macbook pro speakers as output. I think audio is coming through but it's not routed correctly.
You've connected noise~ and the soundfile to the same inlet which means the signals get added regardless if a soundfile is playing. This explains why you can see the signal in the soundlevel meter. It shoudl drop if you lower the gainslider
