Need some help with the Kinect via Synapse

Hi all,

I just bought a Xbox 360 Kinect Sensor as to use with Max for my composition project, but after I opened the Synapse it will run for a bit and suddenly the screen will freeze and Synapse turn itself off.

I'm on the Mac OSX 10.7.5 with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 GB Memory

Regards,

Thanks, mine is 1473. Will try to switch at the store, but I don't think they will allow me to do that.

you may try using jit.openni instead of Synapse http://hidale.com/jit-openni/
it's a Max external which allows you to access the Kinect directly inside Max.

The learning curve may be a bit steeper, but it's a really great external.

for software /driver part i recommend ni-mate

i used synapse and jit.freenectgrab before but ni-mate works best for me

MJ, could you explain a bit more about ni-mate drivers for max/msp usage?
I`m not sure if I am in the right website: http://www.ni-mate.com/use/blender/

I have just get a 1473 kinect and I`m trying to make it work.

for software /driver part i recommend ni-mate

What other parts shoulb be necessary to get kinect working inside max/msp? thanks

I'm not sure if you have already figured this out?
Once NI-Mate is running, under the MIDI controller tab, you just need to select "to MAXMSP 1" or 2 to get the MIDI data into Max.
For the OSC data you would set the IP address and UDP port to something and use this in the udpreceive object in Max.

I hope this helps.
