No sound when Max 4 live used in Ableton
I am new to using max for live and have made a simple arpeggiator based on a you tube tutorial.
When I use the arpeggitator in Ableton linked to a midi keyboard it plays fine and I can hear the effect working.
However when I go to record and hit the keys on the midi keyboard it is not registering the notes nor does the effect appear to be working-
However it does produce a line along the track so I know it is recognising the keys are being pressed but after I finish recording there is no sound played (and the corresponding line does not relate to keys pressed as happens when I play keyboard without recording.)
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Steve
The device produces notes after the piano roll, so whilst it is playing them it won't record...
You need to output the MIDI to another track to record the notes into a clip...

Hi D,
Thanks for your reply.
Is there an easy way to output the MIDI to another track to record the notes into a clip as you suggest ?
Also does the MIDI output to another track occur after the recording or during it?
Sorry if they are silly questions but I am new to this.
Cheers Steve
I'd have to Direct you to the Ableton Live Manual for that one, you need the I/O section, it's sometimes hidden so check the options to the right of the screen...
