Novation Launchpad "Melodic Step Sequencer" for Live 9.7
Hey guys,
I just made an account to ask in this community: could someone of you guys who knows how to do this stuff modify the Step Sequencer (that Novation has released 2009 for the Launchpad) so that it is usable in Live 9.7 (since it worked till I believe version 9.6 or so but now it stopped working).
Here's a link: https://global.novationmusic.com/support/downloads/max-for-live-melodic-step-sequencer-0
Please help me out with this! :)
Thanks a lot,
Alex.
Ask Novation, it's their device...
Cheers

you can open the patch, jitter isn't always recquired.
it's a good patch. not easy and easy to produce.
Which version of Max have you got? My LaunchpadStepSeq_1.1 works with Ableton 9.7 64-bit. Max version is 7.2.5. Max 7.3 might break something, since my LiquidMusic doesn't work with it, but works fine with earlier versions.
stone
PS. Tested LaunchpadStepSeq_1.1 also on Max 7.3, Ableton 9.7 and it seems to work, though something is broken since the 'select Launchpad' menu lists 2 items called bang! ;)
I have spoken to the guys of Novation and basically what they said is "this is an old device" and they don't care about it anymore.
to STONERICH: I also have Ableton 9.7 64bit, but I'm not sure about my Max version, I don't know where to find out which version I have installed. (I know that I installed the latest version as of 10th September if that helps).
Could you tell me what you did? I mean did you even have to do anything?^^ Or was it just: plug in Launchpad, start Ableton, insert Midi track and StepSequencer and off you go... Or did you do any configuring?
Thanks
Oh and I now know I have Max 7.3.1 installed..
but the STepsequencer device doesn't do anything. No lights are showing up in User 2 mode on my launchpad, I have everything set up correctly, midi input is coming in. If I disable the stepseq. device I can play midi perfectly normal, but as soon as I turn the device on again, the midi track does not put out any audio...
Fuck.. This would have been so cool..
Well, you probably have older than 7.3. Didn't do anything or just as you described : "plug in Launchpad, start Ableton, insert Midi track and StepSequencer ... " and select Launchpad from the "select Launchpad" menu (the second bang if on Max 7.3) and click on the Launchpad button and "... off you go". :)
No I checked, I have Max4Live 7.3.1 installed.
Well I did everything as described but it doesn't work :/
Have you tried with Max 7.2.5. Maybe the 7.3.1 breaks things even more? Just downloaded it though. Haven't tested with it yet.
Ok. now I've tested with 7.3.1, and the small faults with the menu are gone, and the step sequencer works alright! Are you using the 64 bit version of M4L?
Btw, with Max 7.3.1 LiquidMusic is also working!
Well I guess you can only youse M4L 64bit version in the 64bit version of Ableton Live right?
Thanks for still keeping up with me, but I guess I just have to find another solution cause downgrading M4L (even if that would make the StepSequencer work) is kind of a no-go for me.
I guess some small bug or whatever that happened when I installed Live 9.7 is preventing the Step Sequencer from working. I'm just waiting now until 9.8 arrives (which should be in like February, March I guess) and hope that THEN everything works out. If not... fuck it.
Thanks anyway
7.3 broke the gettype function for the live.object which most Control Surface connecting devices used, this was fixed on 7.3.1....
After that observe the Max window and see if there are any bugs, then hunt them down...
Cheers
