Objects mentioned in lessons no longer available

I'm new to Max and am going through the bundled lessons, but some of the objects mentioned are not available, e.g. mappr and patternizr. Have these been updated and/or renamed, and if so, what can I use instead?

Ditto for 'Hold down the control key and click the left inlet of sfplay~. Choose timestretch from the menu to add a timestretch to your patch' (Elastic Audio lesson). This doesn't seem to work, so what is the current method of achieving the same result?

Hi Pat,

All these things work for me using Max8.05 on a Mac. mappr and patternizr are Vizzie modules. You can see all the Vizzie modules by clicking on the v icon third from the bottom on the left toolbar. I do get a contextual window by control-click or right clicking on the left inlet.

Let me know if you need more specifics to get these sorted out.

Thanks, Slo. I figured out the right-clicking on the left inlet, but control-click doesn't work for me.

I also found the Vizzie modules, but mappr and patternizr are not there, which is why I assumed the lessons referred to a previous release (some of the Vizzie modules do look slightly different in the lessons – on/off buttons etc). When I use the search, the only Vizzie modules beginning with M are mediatr and mediafoldr, and there are four beginning with P, but no patternizr.

I'm running Max 8.05 on a Macbook Pro. Any ideas?

Well at least one click clicks clickingly.

As you can see in the pic I have many more modules beginning with M and P, so something seems up. I also see mapper and other vizier modules if I search in Spotlight.

You might want to try updating the Vizzie package in the package manager (under the File menu) or reinstalling Max.

Oh yeah, my Vizzie menus don't even have those names, they look like this. I'll try downloading Max 8.06 and failing that the Package Manager.

Sorted. I had installed Max 8 into a folder in my Applications that also contained Max 7 with old packages folder. Once I installed into a different folder, no problem. All Vizzie present and correct.
