Opening plugin made for MSX/MSP in Max for Live

I apologize if this has been asked before...but i'm very new to all of this.

Long story short I recently came across a plugin that I can open using max 6. It works perfectly in the standalone program, but i'd like to use it in ableton. I already own max for live, is there any way I can run this plugin directly through max for live?

What kind of plugin?
If it's a standard plugin (VST or AU) you can use it in M4L or directly in Ableton Live.

If max already sees your plugin (via vst~ I presume), doesn't Ableton Live already list it under Plugins (see image)? If not, which plugin is it? You might want to install it again; some plugins let you choose which versions to install (AU, VST, AAX, etc.).

Thank you both for the responses!

Sorry...I actually may have described it wrong. There wasn't any need to install anything, after I extracted everything from the .zip it just worked (by itself of course). The maxpat file never shows up in ableton's explorer and it won't allow me to drag/drop it anywhere. This is everything that came in the folder I got upon purchase.

this is not a plugin but a max patch. open it with max.
what does the readme say?

Does that mean it's impossible to open with Max for live? Is there anyway to get it directly into ableton other than routing the audio from the standalone program into ableton?

The readme says:

■ Install
HSU-002 was built with MaxMSP.
to run this software, you need to install "MaxMSP" or "MaxMSP Runtime"

1. Download and Install MaxMSP or MaxMSP Runtime.
https://cycling74.com/downloads/

2. Double click and Open "HSU-002.maxpat"

Everything else just explains what the individual effects of the patch can do.

create a new M4L audio effect/instrument/midi effect [dependent on what type of max patch you've got there]

copy and paste the contents of the max patch into the M4L device.

essentially that's it.

there are a bunch of other shit you'll probably have to do like adjusting the new M4L patch's UI, making sure the new device opens in presentation mode, making sure the ins and outs are working with live, replacing UI controls with M4L controls etc. but this all depends on the patch.

bpatcher can sometimes be your friend in this situation.

you'll prob learn a bunch getting it to work, have fun

Like cracklebox and the readme file says: you can't open max patches in Live. They need to be M4L devices to function as Live plugins.
Crackleboxes suggestion is the most solid one with probably the best results especially regarding latency. There is also the option to route the signal from Live to the Patch and back i.e with Soundflower (for Mac). But without seeing the patch it is hard to say anything more specific.
Maybe it has rewire build in? That'd be another option to route signals between them...
You said you bought the patch. Was that patch advertised as a Live plugin? It simply isn't!

@cracklebox

Thank you for the suggestions! Guess this means I'll have to actually get my hands dirty with this lol. I know I'm asking a lot but are there any good sites or tutorials you can point me towards to get started? (if not I'll probably just end up searching this forum I suppose...) As I said before I'm completely new to this so I have no idea where to even start, so literally anything you can throw at me will probably help somehow. If not, thanks again for the help regardless!

@Jan

Thank you as well! Unfortunately I'm on PC so soundflower isn't an option for me. Also yeah, I understand that it wasn't made specifically to be used with Ableton, just hoping there was something i didn't know!
