Options/MIDI setup/Inputs
Hello.
I'm trying to send MIDI note messages with a physical synthesizer in Max for Live.
The problem is the following: in the preferences (Options/MIDI setup.../), my sound card does not appear.
My question is: how do I get my sound card to appear in the "Inputs" category?
sound card is for audio, not midi.
if you mean midi port which exists on that sound card,
then maybe it is in use by some other software ?
Thanks for your response.
Indeed, as I use Max for Live in Ableton Live, I observe in the preferences of this software this: (Midi ports) my sound card Haveterminal HDSP appears (in: HDSP Midi). Is this why when I double click on the "midiin" object I see "Max instrument" and "all devices by channel". So my question is: Are "Max instrument" and "All devices by channel" MIDI ports in Max?
If so, why does "All devices by Channel" not appear in the Options /MIDI setup.../inputs?
m4live midi objects can send/receive only through live tracks.
not directly.
max standalone can
I do not know if I understood well.
I would like to send MIDI note messages with an external synthesizer.
I have correctly configured a MIDI track of ABLETON LIVE 11 so that it receives MIDI messages, which should then be sent in the "notein" object.
I experimented by selecting either "Max instrument" or "All devices by channel".
The problem is that "notein" does not receive any MIDI notes;
We should be able to do this?
your screenshot does not show m4l device in a track.
it shows max patcher - unlocked for editing.
one can't say from the screenshot what is going on.
you must understand that max itself and max runtime within live are 2
completely different things.
if you open m4l device for editing from Live,
than all restrictions and routings of Live are setting the rules.
including selection of midi ports and
monitoring state, rec enabled - anything that
would let that notein receive midi
