package manager and zsa.descriptors
*deep breath*
Max 8.02 OSX High Sierra
I have zsa.descriptors 1.11 installed (manually), package manager can see it.
When I launch zsa.freqpeaks~ I get error "zsa.freqpeak~: zsa.descriptors is not properly installed. Extensions folder is missing!"
so I uninstall.
Package Manager says v1.2 is available so I update (note that v1.11 is newest on the package website).
Leave package manager running all night. Nothing installs.
manual uninstall of zsa package does nothing.
restart max and computer does nothing.
any ideas...?
update: trying again and it's still updating but now this in the Max window: "maxurl: changing the requested output filename to Macintosh HD:/Users/scott/Library/Application Support/Cycling '74/Max 8/Settings/temp64-Max/zsa.descriptors_1_2_0.maxpack (1)"
Does this mean it's done? seemingly not, should I just keep waiting or go to work? how long does it take to load a 3mb package...who knows...
also, AJHarker descriptors~ object won't load, error:
descriptors~: unable to load object bundle executable
no suitable image found. Did find: [filepath] no matching architecture in universal wrapper
[filepath] no matching architecture in universal wrapper
For descriptors~ I believe the problem is that there is no 64 bit version of the external. he will need to compile them so they have 64 bit versions.
I had some strange problems with the package manager that I worked with c74 on but we never quite figured out what was happening and things have worked fine in recent versions. What version of Max are you using. Just curious if you have the firewall turned on - my problem seems to occur more often when that was the case but was consistent.
Thanks, I'll check the 64bit issue with him after christmas.
I'm on Max 8.0.2 on OSX High Sierra,. I've just tried with Mac firewall off, no luck.
I would recommend contacting support about the PM failures.
@Mugloch
There is a 64 bit version of the descriptors~ available on GitHub.
Compiling them is pretty easy too with xcode.
It seems like your installation is a little botched too. I'd start fresh with your packages and work from the manager rather than manually. If you need old versions for stuff I'd use a maxproj and store the externals alongside that particular project.
