Perfume Spring Of Life Dress Programming

I saw a video of a performance of this one artist I used to like. Here's the link:

I loved the way the dresses were seemed to be engineered and programmed, and I thought what if I could remake it myself with a computer, Arduino and LED strips. And even create light shows by creating the same kind of code that the programmers used.

However I had trouble researching about learning to sequence customized lights by a song's rhythm.

When I emailed the programmer, Daito Manabe of Rhizomatiks, he told me the sequencer was made with Max. I also looked at his blog (which is in Japanese and I'm not that fluent in it) and one of the tags he uses for his blogs was Max/MSP/Jitter. So I thought an educated guess thinking "he must've made most of his projects using Jitter so maybe he used Jitter for SOL." But since I'm about to be new to Max (Once I download it) I need to learn the coding to SOL.

And I want an experienced user to tell me the coding according to what I just said and these low-definition videos. Here are the links.
