plugsync~ sends ticks OR beats?
"raw ticks" - 7th outlet comment in help patch for plugsync~
"The current number of beats, expressed in 1 PPQ." - Reference file for 7th outlet
Is there a typo or am I misunderstanding the nature of ticks and beats. I read elsewhere that there are 960 ticks in a beat. So is the 7th outlet sending out beats or ticks? I'm asking because I'm trying to do some calculations.
We had this all allready,
PPQ is pulses per quarter note.
In Midi that means 480 per quarter Note.
Midi Clocks sends one clock every 24 ticks, so there are 96 of them in Quarter note.
That is "Standard" resolution used in most midi gear.
But what plugsync~ is sending You can easily find out.
So park the sequencer to 1/4 and read the output of 7th outlet.
Is that so difficult ?
Sorry, I mean 96 midi clocks in 4/4 Bar.
Or 1920 ticks.
Is that so difficult ?
The documentation states that it sends out a PPQ in one place and elsewhere it states it sends ticks. For someone like who is not used to dealing with the terms, it's clearly confusing.
I agree to that, but on the other hand, one does not need to worry about what is written
in reference or help file.
If You park the transport in Live to some value that would let You analyse what is
going out of outlet 7, then it should be clear.
If You park Live transport at 1:2:0 in 4/4 Bar, meaning 1 Quarter Note elapsed,
and outlet 7 displays 1. in float, that means 0. -1. for 1 quarter note.
If it displays 480. than it is raw ticks in Midi sense.
If I would have and use Live I would do this for You, but I don't.
