I have a problem that from the Dock, my Max application launches in 32-bit mode by default, even after having unchecked "open in 32-bit mode" in the Get Info menu. It DOES launch in 64 from the applications folder, but not from the Dock. I've tried removing it from the Dock and adding it again. Any tips? This is OS X 10.10.5

I tried Sethares' solution: "Remove the max icon from the dock. Start Max up in 64 bit mode (info -- uncheck "open in 32-bit mode"). Then, while open in 64 bit mode, tell it to stay in the dock. Now it will open in future in 64 bit mode."

You can save it as app and place in the dock...

If You don't want 32 bit max at all, strip the i386 code alltogether.

Leaves You plain 64 bit max which then can't run in 32 but mode

even if it so desperately wants to...


Ok, thanks that does work. It's quite a bodge, and leaves me with an extra junk icon in my Dock, but I suppose it is handy. There must be a better way... (And yeah, I do need 32-bit mode sometimes.)
