Problems with pfft~ in Max4Live
Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing some issues with having a pfft~ subpatch inside a Max4Live patch, and I'm not sure what the root of the problem is. My guess at the moment is just having this pfft~ subpatch, since I have never had any problems with my other patches or even having a poly~ subpatch.
Both the main patch (.amxd) and the subpatch (.maxpat) are in the same folder: /Ableton/User Library/Presets/Audio Effects/ Max Audio Effects/
The Max4Live Patch is frozen, but I cannot freeze the subpatch. The freeze sign is greyed out since the format is .maxpat.
Maybe there's something wrong with my patching. I don't have much experience with pfft~ so I'm using this patch from a lesson as a tryout.
My problems are:
It works well only in one track. The moment that I add the effect into another track, it stops working properly and there are some artifacts as well in both tracks.
Ableton crashes sometimes if I change one of the parameters. So it's not reliable.
Thanks!
Hi Kleros,
I'm still working out M4L as well so may not be the correct answer but heres what I think.
Firstly both the Max Patches [copy and paste] were just the same so I couldn't test your pfft~ object.
Second, for the errors of it works well on one track but when you do a second it crashes out. This is most likely due to the global nature of patches. You might want to try adding a '---' to your pfft object [pfft~ ---distfft 1024] so each time you add a new device to a new track, it becomes it own unique pfft instead of both reading the same (Most likely why the crash). This is something I'm yet to try out though so may not be the answer you need.
All the best,
Blue
Hi Blue,
oh sorry about the the attachments! Hopefully it's correct now.
Thanks for the info! It helped a lot.
I changed the name of the [pfft~] to [---distfft] first, but it didn't seem to make any difference.
I realized after that I should've also added the "---" to other objects inside the [pfft~]. There are some [jit.] objects and one [s] and [r]. After that, I tried again in Live and it seems to work properly in different tracks :)
P.S.: the float number boxes over the [live.numbox] are there because I find live number boxes (as float) very jumpy. Even when pressing shift. I don't know if you have the same experience.
Thanks again! Best regards
