Random noise on Windows 10

I've just started using MaxMSP and it produces random crackles and pops while playing sounds. I always hear a pop when I stop the sound. I don't hear these problems with any other audio app. I don't hear the noise when I play MaxMSP generated sounds from youtube or other sources, so my machine can play MaxMSP audio generated on other machines without problems. It is only when I generate sounds on my own machine that MaxMSP makes noise. I'm using the Sound Blaster PLAY! 3 USB DAC using the newest driver with all effects turned off on Windows 10. How can I fix this problem? I'm just trying to play a simple sine wave.
