hello can someone tell me how can i read a live view of an axis ip camera such as this http://66.163.131.195/view/index.shtml into jitter? what message do i need to send to jit.qt.mov? i read in the forums that the camera file path must be sent, i also read that this can be found within the page source. assuming that "src" is the file path, i tried sending the url above but it didnt work. the "src" text is /view/view.shtml?videos=&id=5342 and the temp file path is /view/temp.shtml -- do i need to send these text?

the url should be: http://66.163.131.195/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi
but i couldn't grab the stream ether
probably you have to toy around with the streaming formats like h264 etc.
here is a (buggy) capture driver for windows http://www.axis.com/techsup/software/capture_driver/index.htm

yeah the original stream link that i posted was just an example, but it doesnt seem to be working at all anymore. thanks for the links - have you seen any capture drivers for macintosh?

how did you come up with this url? and is the driver necessary?

its an live generated jpeg sequence embeded in http://66.163.131.195/view/index.shtml
which you can watch in you browser
i found the sequence url in the page source
you don't need an driver
but if you want to access the stream via software image grabbers you have to use the windows only capture driver - but this one is not really usefull because it's wants its settings be confirmed each time you want to access the camera ;-(

but. you might be able to access the stream directly via url in quicktime and jit.qt.movie if you change the codec to something quicktime can read
probably mp4 h264
i managed to open the stream right now with the vlc player
good luck

thanks zerox_

on a related topic, i am looking for a wireless video camera system (camera, transmitter, receiver, adapter) --
if the adapter connects rca to usb, do you think it can be read into jit.qt.movie ?

i'm interested in this setup...

and it seems that this would be okay as an adapter...

or maybe this, but here there is a screen capture called "Ulead VideoStudio" -- i'm just not sure what to get because all i want to do is read it into jit.qt.movie...

any help is much appreciated!

very nice camera ;-)
i guess the 2.4GHz Standard Receiver outputs composite video
so you can use almost any usb, firewire etc. capture device with provided video drivers
on windows use jit.dx.grab and on os x jit.qt.grab
jit.qt.movie is for only video files, some web streams and flash files
as far as i know
i managed to open every video device with jit.dx.grab i tried (wintv, terratec, canopus, theimagingsource, pinnacle, logitec, philips... )
only the axis driver was really bad
usb drivers got some differences with speed and performance
dv-capture devices are fast and need no driver but only got pal and ntsc resolution (as far as i know)

i would go for terratec, wintv or pinnacles in a lower price class to name some

there was an very good thread at http://vvvv.org with many devices but i cant find it any more

cool, yeah i just ended up buying this kit:

but i haven't had a chance to use it yet... i'll let you know how it works.

i also got this for hacking into cctv:

... and if anyone else is looking to get the wireless usb dvr above, make sure you do not get it from here http://www.thespystore.com/wirelessvideoreceivers.htm -- i mean as far as i can tell, the same exact product is sold through many other sites for much much cheaper ... i did, and now i'm trying to get a refund!

anyway, i havent used any of that stuff yet but i'll post here when/if i do
