Recording a Video Patcher with Audio to QT or other video file

Hi there,

Have been surfing the forums for a while now and having a hard time finding a consolidated answer to this question. I'm trying to record a video patch to QT that involves audio frequency manipulation, keying, and color delay - there's a lot going on here, and it seems like the way to go would be jit.vcr, but I'm having some total beginner hangups here.
1. how do I record the video from the jit.pwindow? do I have to save it as a file first? if so how does one go about doing that in Max?
2. what's your experience with the different codec settings?
3. how would you go about capturing the audio component?
4. can I just connect the jit.vcr to different inputs/outputs in the patch such as the jit.op?

thank you for your patience, I've connected the patch here for reference.
