selecting points a to b of a buffer~
Is the groove~ the only mechanism by which to select or set specific points in a buffer~.
I have some sample chains and although I believe the start points to be close to correct the ends of the file are longer than they need to be.
I am looking to cut the file up into smaller chunks, to do that I need to set and listen to the A to B points.
Cipriani is using a groove object in book 2 but for a different reason.
help would be appreciated.
Hi PB21,
I think the [groove~] object is the easier way to select parts of a sample. It already has the start and stop in ms.
Although if don't know where you want to stop the sample, it might be easier to just edit the samples in another program and then use them.

yes at present I use able to record the chain, then soundforge script to add points at 16 seconds then to make a region of the remainder time, then I use soundforges extract to region but its time consuming.
I then take the sample into octatrack and set the slice points.
soundforge insists I do a save as to save the regions so i though I would try make a "simple" tool that would allow me to set the start by moving and listening to the start. then when that is set set a marker at 16 seconds after that. then set a marker 40 seconds from the beginning I just set. That will give me the correct points in time then i can crop the end off which in turn will set the bpm.
Cipriani has the basis of my tool here:
