I'm trying to implement a device that I can map the outputs of my sensel morph in M4L and came across a problem that I'm sure has been debated here but I just cannot find it. The Sensel external works when I have the Max window open but as soon as I only run it in Ableton, it won't pick up any data.

Ok, resolved it: in case anyone has a similar problem in the future, the solution is to disable the Sensel Morph Input and Output ports in the Ableton Live MIDI Options.
