Should I purchase RNBO right away?

Hello to all. I'm new to Max MSP.(I have been tinkering with PureData on and off for a few years, so it's not totally mysterious, but I'm still at a very beginner level)

My long term goal in learning Max is to be able to build standalone instruments using Raspberry Pi computers, and so for this purpose, RNBO seems to be the thing to use. What I'm not clear on is this:

Let's say over the next year I end up working for a long time on a Max patch, and want to be able to turn it into a physical instrument. Can I then purchase and learn RNBO at that stage? Or will I have painted myself into corner? In other words, are Max patches easily transferable to RNBO or am I better off purchasing RNBO right away and learning them both in tandem?

I'm confused!

Thanks!

Hello Leon,

your plan seems to be pretty clear so I would say it doesn't really make a difference when you add RNBO to your license.
On a personal note: I am building stand alone instruments with RNBO on RasPis and it's a lot of fun :)

Thank you Jan!

It's daunting to imagine at this stage, but one day :)
I'd love to see some of your instruments when possible.
