Simulate LEDs on a 3d object
I'm wondering if Max is the right tool to make a mock up of an LED project I want to propose.
I have a 3d object designed in sketchup and I'd like to import it cover it in 'virtual' LEDs (dots) which ideally I could pipe patterns through.
Im pretty bad at 3d stuff but I understand that textures stretch around an object which isn't really what I want.
Last time I drew each LED in the right place with Jitter but I was using a sphere, a uniform shape, this time I just have an .obj and it's more complicated.
Anyone have any suggestions or hints?
Really depends on how complex your object/scene is. Simpler stuff shouldn't be too much trouble, but for more complex things, I like creating it all in Cinema4D (i guess sketchup could work, not sure how it handles UV Mapping) and then loading it in Unity and then sending the texture over syphon (spout for windows) to Unity. The texture gets mapped with however i specified the UV mapping in C4D.
