Soundflower with Skype and Ableton or Logic?
Hi all,
I'm wanting to use Skype with my headphones and microphone. I want to also route the audio so the person I am chatting with on Skype can hear the audio from Logic or Ableton. Is this possible with Soundflower? Since Soundflower is a Cycling 74 product, I thought I'd ask here. Thanks!

I just opened Skype and in the preferences under 'audio/video you can choose soundflower for input or output device. So yes.
Right, but I need to put out the sound of Ableton and my microphone (I'm using headphones with a microphone on it)...that didn't do either.
I guess I don't understand the signal path and how Soundflower effects it.
Make Soundflower your default Output in Audio/MIDI setup, and also set Ableton Out to go there, and set Skype Input to this Soundflower bus.
There is a small app coming with Soundflower: 'Soundflowerbed', which will allow all this to be rerouted to your phones.
Maybe it works to send Skype Output (the other persons voice) also to the same Soundflower bus without getting feedback.
If not, then use the multitrack flavour of Soundflower to have a separate bus for Skype return. With Soundflowerbed this can equally be routed to your phones.
Hmm...OK. When I tried this and then set Soundflowerbed to the "Built-in Output" (which was to my headphones) it didn't work. Any advice? Thanks!
Works here as usual.
Are you on a current version (1.6.6b)? Could also be a SR or format mismatch to fix in Audio/MIDI setup.
I find Soundflower more reliable than Jack OSX, which you could also try.
There is also a degree of patching available in Apple's own AULab.
And of course native Maxeans would write a little M4L patch to handle all this from within Live....
