Spectral Freeze Pro

Basically Spectral Freeze Pro works for me, but I got stuck with a strange problem. To start a freeze remotely I seemingly have to send a Freeze 1 message. It activates the freeze button. Then I send a freeze message and it starts the freeze. It's the same for "clear". But the clear message only works when I send the messages with a mouse-click. When I send them from my Novation Launchpad via Midi, the bangs make the signal softer and softer and then Max crashes. So I wonder what the difference may be between a bang triggered by a mouse-click and a bang triggered otherwise.

midi does not send clicks but values,
probably maker of that software did not take that into account.
Maybe you need to send 1, 0 to mimick click - release of the mouse...
I'd say take a look inside to see what the buttons execute.

I just send bangs to a message (No midi data of course) and the message to the plugin (1, 0 as you say). Works with mouse, doesn‘t work without mouse-click. Strange. I would love to have a look inside, but therefore I need an amxd object instead of the plug-in with gui. Therefore I‘d need its NAME :)) but you know, names with spaces… I tried many. No luck so far.

can you maybe precise what that plugin is ?
vst ?

that´s a live device from jfc :)

i´ve always considered it a questionable idea to send anything else to plug-ins but parameter values or midi.

if it is amxd, then only way to send it anything else than midi or automation parameter would be OSC message, but I doubt it is set to receive that.

I understand less and less what is being sent and what spaces in the name of what mean ?

"Works with mouse, doesn‘t work without mouse-click"
what can mouse do if not click ?

I also couldn‘t believe it:
I send a message with „Clear 1“ and another message with “Clear -1“ to the plugin. If I do it manually by clicking with the mouse on 2 bangs, then it works and clears the freeze. When I trigger the same bangs remotely via Midi (not by sending the Midi values to the plugin or anywhere else, but by just triggering the same bangs) it does not work.

sorry for not mentioning: spectral freeze pro is an amxd plugin. If anyone has an idea, how to open it as an object, like „amxd~ name it would be very helpful. Then I can have a look inside the patch.

@audiosource, I use the automation parameter in a message in Max.

Source Audio's icon

so you use amxd inside max ?
I would unpack it and make a simple patch out of it,
then control it using proper midi or whatever else messages.

Michael Beil's icon

can‘t unpack. I need the full name to create an object, that I can open. It‚s shown as gui only.

Hey

Im having the same problem. Here is the amxd if you want to have a look!

Edit: removed the attachment since the author of the patch has provided a fix.

Hi, indeed, my mistake. The freeze and clear messages should always be sent at low priority, which is the case with mouse clicks, but not with MIDI mapping and other situations. Checking "Defer Automation Output" in the inspectors for both buttons should fix it (if not, then adding two [deferlow] objects after the buttons). I will fix the original and inform other users.
