Static while playing audio
Hi - this seems such a simple problem yet I can't find it being discussed. Just returning to Max after many years. I'm running Max 8 on a Windows 10 laptop, and anytime I play audio - such as an audio file or a signal generator into a DAC - I get the sound overlayed with static. I can hear the proper audio playing underneath, but the white-noise type static is always there. Is this likely to be an audio driver issue?
Some power supplies do make static noise, but more like
hi freq interference.
That could be in some cases solved by disconnecting earth line.
You can check that by simply disconnecting power supply and run on battery.
Is that noise Max only, or does other softwer suffer from it too ?
A screenshot with dsp settings might be helpful.
And - mme driver does not allways play nice on Windows 10.
directsound or ASIO usually works better
Thanks - it's working now. I switched to a different audio driver and back to the mme one - and restarted the computer - and it seems to be restored.
Good to go!
