Sysex patch saving
Hi, completely new to Max4Live. I've watched some of the new Ableton tutorials on M4L and wanted to save my Rev-2 patches in Ableton. I can successfully dump, save and resend patches in MIDIOX so everything is connected up right.
I've created a sysexin to capture M4L device in Ableton and can see the MIDI dump is triggering a MIDI input in Ableton whilst I am in clip record but I cannot find any MIDI data in the clip. I must be doing something wrong and would appreciate some guidance.
sysex can't be seen as notes on piano roll if you mean that.
Does live have midi list editor like all normal DAWs do ?
In any case, you could capture sysex into seq object inside your
device and write it to any location.
when i remember right (no live user), reception of sysex is turned off off by default.
I remember someone mentioned sysex being ok in last Live versions.
But there was also imp.midiin or even sysexin external to overcome that.
If live can record sysex in a track ?
No idea, and no interest to find out ....
This device does what you want https://maxforlive.com/library/device/6998/cf-sysex-recorder
Live has supported sysex since version 10 and it is on by default
Hi Markus,
thanks for posting this link - much appreciated! I presume if I turn off auto recall I can resend patches with the send button? I want to be able to use my Rev-2 playing different parts on the tracks.
You're welcome! I have never worked extensively with that m4l device and i suggest to try it out. There are some questions in the comments about automatibillity, a couple are from me 😊. If you do try, let me know!
Edit, Seems to have it working. You have to hit record in the M4L object too.
best to comment on the maxforlive page, as it is not my device 😊
