Our group (Signal-to-Noise Media Labs) has been doing research at Gates Planetarium for the last couple years building 3D spatial panners and loudspeaker optimization with a 15.1 hemispherical audio system. We use Max as "middleware" between Live & Nuendo to the the system. We also use a Jitter patch from Charles Veasey to do the realtime video remapping to the dome. This photo was from an AES presentation we did last night. Awesome place to play!
He’s since moved the project to a very efficient open source C++ version and has therefore stopped updating the Max version, but it’s a great piece of software. It’s intended to work with 6 projectors in the dome, but could be modified to work with other configurations.
It was originally built as part of a grant-driven project he and Ethan Bach did at IAIA in New Mexico.
