i want to extract different groups of values from a long sysex message. so far i'm gathering the incoming sysex values with zl group and index this list with listfunnel.

now i'm looking for a way to extract the values at a certain range of the index, e.g. 8 consecutive values starting from index 27 in the list.

now in fact i want to switch between 21 ranges of 24 consecutive values in a list of 1233 numbers.

can somebody please point me in the right direction?

Anyway, the following patch may help you in your sysex analyse:

This might be one of those times when good ol' JavaScript is the simplest solution. The attached slicelist.js file does what I believe you are trying to do. Save the js file in the same folder/directory as your patcher. Create a 'js slicelist.js' object, then send it a 'set 27 8' message (or alternatively, separate messages 'start 27' and 'count 8') followed by your long sysex message in the same inlet. When it receives the sysex message it sends a message with a list that starts at, in this case, item 27 (note that this is counted from zero, not one) and has 8 values. Feel free to play around with it to find the best way to do all of your many combinations, but I hope that this might at least get you going.

i wanted to avoid to involve javascript since i'm not familiar with it. but that's something i definately want to learn.

but for now i just needed a quick solution to finish a project. thank you for the input. i will check it out.
