to turn the "volume" down using a toggle object [*~ ] is your friend.

in order to completly disconnect and turn off a signal chain i would recommend to use use two empty poly~ patchers, one at the beginning and one at the end of the subcircuit, each containing a thispoly~.:

for the toggle, should it be [prepend mute] ?
