No MIDI Output through AU DLS Synth?

Hi, I have been using Max 5 in my first year at university. I have learnt quite a lot about the workings of the program and have used it frequently on the macs in my uni. I downloaded the demo of Max 5 and everything seems to be working fine apart from the fact that no MIDI seems to come out of the AU DLS Synth (I have a new generation Macbook Pro).

I have tried changing some of the settings around and changing the noteout messages to different places but to no avail. It might also be worth mentioning I am using Aserve also in conjunction with Xcode. I know this may sound like a really stupid question but I know the basics of Max and have never had this problem in my uni, am I missing something silly here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have a piece of coursework due in a week and I cannot seem to figure any way around this. Just let me know if I should provide more specific details, etc.

Many thanks,
CPU.

Do you mean "no MIDI seems to come out of the AU DLS Synth" or do you *actually* mean "no MIDI seems to GO INTO the AU DLS synth. AFAIK the AU DLS synth does not output MIDI. If you mean the latter, and you can not get the synth to respond to MIDI and make sound, It may not be enbled. Check the Quicktime preferences in Control panels to be sure...

Yeah that is what I meant. But this was actually because of this problem - https://cycling74.com/forums/osx-snow-leopard
I had an older version of Max that caused it not to work. Thanks for the help anyway.

Hi, after sorting out this problem I have been trying to figure out how to use the Aserve synthesiser with Xcode. I know this is a forum for Max, but the main aim for my project is for my max patch to control my Xcode file through the Aserve synthesiser and this problem is stopping me completing this coursework. Enclosed is my current code file, I have followed all my tutorials, but cannot seem to get the Aserve oscillator to start, even though it recognises which note number I am playing and I have put in the note to frequency conversion.
Again any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Reuben.
