Hi, this is probably a complete noob question but I've got a mental block for some reason.

I'm looking to compare a fixed list of numbers, with a single variable, and output whichever member of the list is closest to the variable at the moment.

I'd have thought zl would be able to do this but unless i'm missing something, it cant.

You could do it with the patcher below (part of the LAM-lib, FWIW).

Thanks, those are both brilliant. I didn't know about the vexpr object (I'm fairly new to this) and now I do, it's solved all my problems.

Hey! I notice if I had a number that is exactly in the middle between two other numbers, it will always choose the lower one as the closest one... Any ideas of how to make it choose the upper one?
