Video loop stutters in AVF engine, in QT engine the video get darker colors

    I've have a patch which loops a short video of 1080 x 1920 (HD in portrait mode) but if i play it with Max 7 with the AVF engine the loop plays not smoothly like if i loop it in quicktime 7. I tried different compressions, overdrive on/off, problem stayed. With the QT engine is runs smooth but the colors of the video look much darker than in QuickTime player or with the avf engine. See the attached screenshot.
    How is that possible and are there workarounds?

      Forgot to mention my os: Max 7.2.1 , OSX 10.11.4 MacBookPro Retina Mid 2012. Opening Max in 32-bit or 64-bit doesn't make difference.

      what is the codec? best to use prores422 or photo-jpeg. are you using output_texture 1? colormode uyvy?
      if the looping is unsatisfactory, use two jit.movies and bounce back and forth.
      you could also try the viddll engine, installable via the max package manager

      I tried PhotoJpeg, ProRes 422 and variations like 422 LT, and several other codecs. It keeps a stutter at the end of the loop... also with the output_texture 1 and colormode uyvy. I would like to use the looppoints into jit.movie in loopmode 1 and 2 , but avf keeps stuttering with frames, and it looks like viddl doesn't support loopmode 2. I'm now back with max6 which runs the loops very smooth. For now it's best solution.
      But the colors in Max (also Max6) stays darkers than in in QuickTime 7. I checked the rgb values of a screenshot of the colorbars.pict from the media folder loaded in QT7 and Max6. I've never noticed before, was it always like that? And is there a solution to keep them the same?
